Cost for Project54®

The cost for installing project54 in a public safety vehicle is governed by several factors. The cost shown here is for component parts only ( not installation labor) and can be as low as $1000 and as high as over $4000. These cost estimates are based on the components that we have experience with and the quantity that we purchase (under 1000 units). Also, several manufacturers are building Project54® interfaces directly into their equipment which may reduce future costs.

Factors:

  1. The most important factor is the type and age of the standard public safety equipment that is installed in the current vehicles. Generally light/siren systems, radars and radios that are not relatively new, purchased within the last 5 years may require additional components to work with P54 or they may not work at all. The list of supported products is provided on this site and your installer can be a further source of information.

  2. A large portion of the install cost is the computer system and the required support equipment. If your current vehicle is equipped with a laptop or other PC computer that runs either Windows 2000 or XP it can be used to support Project54® software. The processor must be at least a Pentium II the runs at 500mhz, to handle voice support. This can save about $3000 in hardware cost, also laptop PCs have battery support that works in low power or no power situations, so it will provide enhanced Project54&153; computer support.
